ABOUT
Take a trip back to Hawkins, Indiana: 1983… when times were simpler, hair was bigger, and unsupervised children were getting snatched by inter-dimensional creatures.
STRANGER SINGS! THE PARODY MUSICAL is a hilarious ‘upside down’ take on the hit Netflix series - and all its campy 1980s glory.
Join Mike, Eleven, Lucas, Dustin, and the whole Hawkins gang for a night of adventure, thrills, pubescent angst, heavy synth, poor parenting, convoluted love triangles, cheap effects, dancing monsters, and maybe, just maybe... justice for everyone’s favorite missing ginger, Barb Holland.
Runtime: Approximately 110 minutes with a 15 minute intermission
Age Recommendation: 13+ (language, suggestive content)

JONATHAN HOGUE

Jonathan Hogue (Book, Music, & Lyrics) is thrilled to be bringing to life all the delightful idiosyncrasies of his favorite Netflix obsession with Stranger Sings!. Parody has been his theatrical language since the 7th Grade, when he was known by his classmates to write and perform Monty Python-inspired skits in lieu of traditional history presentations (and often roasting his own teachers in the process). He is a producer, writer, and director with a passion for new work development, and has held various administrative and creative positions on Broadway as well as with Williamstown Theatre Festival, the Joffrey Ballet School, and across advertising and live events. Projects in development include Camp Nightmare, a jukebox parody musical riffing on 1980's slasher films; and The Nations, a drama loosely based on his experiences as an international aid worker across three continents, which received its virtual world-premiere in Spring 2021. He is currently pursuing his MFA in Theatre Management and Producing at Columbia University. Extremely grateful for every person that has contributed to this silly little show along its wild journey to the stage. Thanks to God, family, and Winona Ryder for the inspiration.

NICK FLATTO
-
Nick Flatto (Director) is totally stoked to return as Director of Stranger Sings after directing the premiere production in the village last year! Previously, he assisted the awesome Gordon Greenberg in the development of The Heart of Rock and Roll and The Secret of My Success. Other waycool theatre credits include Rocktopia (Broadway Theatre); A Christmas Story (Big League Productions); A Funny Thing…(Shakespeare Theatre Co.); South Pacific (Cape Playhouse); and Hairspray (Fulton Theatre). He has trained with the totally tubular Tectonic Theatre Project, Larry Moss Studios, Jen Waldman Studios, Upright Citizens Brigade, and Muhlenberg College, and even won a Helen Hayes Award...Psyche! He was just nominated. Nick is mega passionate about developing and producing new theatre as an investor in Broadway's Moulin Rouge and creator of The Ones That Got Away: A Joe Allen Tribute at 54 Below. He is also on the fantabulous luxury sales team, Scott Stewart NYC, which has sold over $1.5 billion in residential real estate. Much love to my family, Matt, and the creative team for joining me on this righteous journey to the upside down. Nick believes this show exists to remind all of us who sometimes feel less than or other that in fact we are more than and a family. United together we can take on the bogus Demogorgons of the world! In honor of this production, Nick is making a donation to aliforneycenter.org, a local non-profit with a mission to provide housing and healthcare services to homeless LGBTQ+ youth.
